June 2022 Netflix Horrors and Thrillers

1. Detak (June 2)

What happens when a doctor obsessed with hearts (and very skilled at taking them out!) meets an Indonesian traditional dancer who makes his heart beat faster? This description almost makes it sound like this is the plot of a romantic comedy but from 2021 Detaileither Tarian Lengger Maut, is anything but a romance or a comedy. The trailer promises that this movie will be a dark and grim watch, with mysterious deaths and a ritual involving the Lengger Dance to put an end to this reign of terror. Detail is one that will definitely intrigue you.

2. Borgen: Power and Glory (June 2)

Official synopsis: “Foreign Minister Birgitte Nyborg finds her career in jeopardy when a dispute over oil in Greenland threatens to escalate into an international crisis.”

Interested in the darkest underbelly of world politics? Adam Price’s 8-episode investigative series brings exactly that and much more as he learns about international powers, the climate crisis, and how power changes even the best of people.

3. The Perfect Mother (June 3)

The Netflix plot reads: “Convinced of her daughter’s innocence in a homicide, a dedicated mother soon discovers disturbing truths as the line between victim and perpetrator blurs.”

Based on the novel of the same name by Nina Darnton, the series stars Julie Gayet, Tomer Sisley, Eden Ducourant and Andreas Pietschmann, along with other cast members. The series deals with the subject of what happens when her daughter is involved in a murder case as the main suspect. Most importantly, what happens when it seems like it might be the truth? The miniseries, directed by Fred Garson, is sure to keep audiences on their toes!

4. Two Summers (June 3)

The official synopsis for the series reads: “A close circle of friends reunite for a lavish vacation, decades after one of them was the victim of a sexual assault committed by other members of the group.”

The length of 6 episodes two summers has the feeling I know what you did last summer with a group of friends gathered for a vacation. What begins as a moment of relaxation soon turns into utter chaos after a video clip from three decades ago appears to haunt the group after so many years. Delicious and twisted, the series promises a wild ride from start to finish, hopefully with a very shocking ending.

The official synopsis reads: “Falling in love is complicated for teenagers Juliette and Calliope: one is a vampire, the other is a vampire hunter, and both are ready to commit their first kill.”

Vampires, vampire slayers and a history of Romeo and Juliet (well, sort of): what does it feel like when two people who couldn’t be more different fall in love? This one is going to present a bloody romance like no other!

6. The Wrath of God (June 15)

Official synopsis: “Convinced that the tragic death of her loved ones was orchestrated by a famous novelist she worked for, Luciana turns to a journalist to expose her truth.”

Starring Diego Peretti, Juan Minujín and Macarena Achaga, this film is an adaptation of the murder book and is directed by Sebastian Schindel. The mystery thriller promises a mind-blowing journey where the audience, along with protagonist Luciana, will question what is real and what is fiction as she tries to protect her remaining relative from the clutches of death.
