Tottenham news: Antonio Conte handed transfer decision on ‘next Neymar’ as Spurs welcome £51m boost

Here’s your Tottenham morning recap on Sunday 29th May.

Perisic accepts offer from Tottenham

Ivan Perisic has accepted an offer to join Tottenham this summer after his contract with Inter Milan expires, according to The Guardian. The 33-year-old will sign a two-year deal at White Hart Lane after turning down a similar deal at the San Siro.

Antonio Conte is believed to have been a key component in planning the transfer as the Italian was keen to get back together with Perisic. The Croatia international was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea during the Spurs boss’ reign in west London.

Perisic has again been linked with a move to the Blues this summer, although the Lilywhites come out on top. Conte and the wide-man worked together at Inter in the title-winning 2020-21 season.

Bryan Gil’s dilemma

Tottenham have to make a big decision about Bryan Gil’s future this summer, less than a year after the Spaniard walked through the doors at Hotspur Way. The Spaniard was a shining light in La Liga last season with his ability to dribble the ball and create chances.

Barcelona scout German Vaya Ballabriga said of Gil last season: “Right now he is Spain’s best footballer and I compare him to Neymar. He can do certain things and is very versatile as he can play as a full-back, in the middle or further the left wing. It’s impressive. I spoke to him [Barcelona’s sporting director] Raman Planes on him and he has Bryan Gil in mind.”

Much will depend on what offers come in for the winger and are not expected to be in short supply. The key for Tottenham is to ensure Gil doesn’t slip through his fingers and become a star elsewhere.

Spurs bet on £51m top-up

Tottenham need to work out a suitable deal with Inter Milan if they want to bring Alessandro Bastoni to north London, which could prove difficult. football.london understand the Italian giants will not accept less than £51m for the defender.

But Spurs may have received a boost in their Bastoni pursuit. A player once linked with a move to N17, Gleison Bremer is now reportedly a key target for Inter.

In March, Italian journalist Fabrizio Biasin revealed that the 25-year-old has already signed for the Italian side for next season. However, Inter Milan will need funds to buy the Torino defender, which Tottenham can muster if the Italian side agree to a sale of Bastoni.
