Football Manager 2023 is coming soon.
The game hasn’t been officially announced yet, but all of the other releases in the franchise came out in November, and we expect the same for FM23.
The beta is traditionally released two weeks in advance, so we’ve looked at some of the best international saves you can take on.
That might seem a little counterintuitive for FM, which of course is a game that’s thriving in terms of club management.
But international management can be a quicker, slimmed-down rescue when qualifying gets you into big tournaments, friendlies and the like like the World Cup, European Championship and Africa Cup of Nations.
Here are five of the best international saves you can do when FM23 comes out.
The Lionesses may have brought football home earlier this week, beating Germany in an amazing European Championship final, but the wait for a big men’s cup continues.
No silver has been won since 1966, but the Three Lions are closing in, reaching the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020.
Can you end 56 years of pain?
That’s a good one.
They are a British country and a real challenge compared to England.
Northern Ireland have not reached a World Cup since 1986, when they were eliminated in the group stage after failing to win a match, and have played at Euro only once, in 2016.
Obviously they have never won an international cup. Can you change it?
Mexico has a tournament curse that goes back many years.
They keep getting to the World Cup and then making it to the last 16 only to get eliminated. This has happened at every tournament since 1994.
They will also be hosting the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and the USA, so you get an automatic entry. Add to that their excellent record in the Gold Cup, which they have won 11 times, and you have a really interesting save.
This one is for the masochists.
San Marino is the worst international team in the world. Since their tournament debut, they have played in every qualifying stage for the World Cup and the European Championship. You’ve never won a game.
Your challenge is not only to finish this run, but you also have to qualify for one of the tournaments. They celebrated their only win to date in 2004 in a friendly against Liechtenstein 1-0.
Win Africa’s first World Cup.
As simple as that.
Senegal is a team with an immense history and some really excellent players, not the least of which is Liverpool’s world-class ace Sadio Mane.
Build around him and try to win the biggest trophy in the game while also winning the AFCON.
This one should be lots of fun.
