The European football leagues start the new season on Friday


The football season 2022/23 in England, France, Germany and Türkiye starts with the games on Friday.

In the English Premier League, Arsenal are guests at Crystal Palace in London’s Selhurst Park.

Arsenal fans can’t wait to see several new faces against Crystal Palace.

Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus, Ukraine left-back Oleksandr Zinchenko and Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira joined the Gunners this summer.

Jesus and Zinchenko previously played for Manchester City and Vieira was signed from Porto.

All of them are expected to make their Arsenal debuts barring any injuries.

The game between Crystal Palace and Arsenal starts at 19:00 GMT.

French league begins with the game Lyon vs. Ajaccio

Olympique Lyon meet Ajaccio at home in the first round in the opener of the French premier class, Ligue 1.

The match at Decines-Charpieu’s Groupama Stadium near Lyon starts at 19:00 GMT.

Lyon had plenty of recruits in the 2022 summer transfer window when French midfielder Corentin Tolisso and compatriot Alexandre Lacazette returned to the club.

Tolisso was a Bayern Munich midfielder from 2017-2022, while Lyon native Lacazette previously played for Arsenal.

Argentina left-back Nicolas Tagliafico also joined Lyon from Dutch club Ajax in July.

FC Bayern meets Eintracht Frankfurt in the away game

The German champions of 2022, Bayern Munich, meet Eintracht Frankfurt away from home at the start of the 60th Bundesliga.

The season opener at Deutsche Bank Park begins at 18:30 GMT.

This summer, Poland star Lewandowski, who was a long-time Bayern Munich forward, joined Barcelona. The Bavarian club could miss him.

German defender Niklas Sule and French midfielder Tolisso also left Bayern Munich in July.

Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt, Senegalese winger Sadio Mane, French youngster Mathys Tel, Dutch midfielder Ryan Gravenberch and Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui were signed from Bayern Munich this summer.

Eintracht Frankfurt, who won the UEFA Europa League title in May, have signed Norwegian winger Jens Petter Hauge from AC Milan.

Alongside him, Eintracht Frankfurt also signed Argentinian striker Lucas Alario from Bayer Leverkusen and signed German midfielder Mario Götze.

Götze, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner, was a Bayern Munich midfielder from 2013 to 2016. He later returned to his youth club Borussia Dortmund.

Most recently he played for PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.

Trabzonspor meets newly promoted Istanbulspor

Turkey’s reigning champions Trabzonspor make a guest appearance at Istanbulspor in the season opener of the Turkish Spor Toto Super Lig.

This summer Trabzonspor strengthened their squad with Danish right-back Jens Stryger Larsen and Egyptian winger Trezeguet.

Trezeguet is familiar with Türkiye having previously played for Super Lig clubs Kasimpasa and Medipol Basaksehir.

The 27-year-old joined Trabzonspor from England’s Aston Villa in July.

Trabzonspor’s opponents Istanbulspor returned to the Super Lig in June.

They last played in the 2004/05 season in Turkey’s top division.

The match at Istanbul’s Ataturk Olympic Stadium will start at 18:00 GMT.
