Outlander’s Sam Heughan has announced in-person events to celebrate the release of his memoir.

Sharing the news on social media, the Balmaclellan-born star wrote: “Celebrating my new memories ‘Waypoints’ in Edinburgh and London.

“Join me for a night discussing the book and my trip to the highlands. It should be a wonderful evening, excited to see you all in person!”

For those who weren’t lucky enough to attend the events, Heughan also revealed that they will be broadcast live globally.

Waypoints will be released in October and follows the actor’s 100-mile journey to the Scottish Highlands.

The synopsis reads: “With the rugged West Highland Way as the backdrop for the narrative, Sam writes a love letter to the wild Scottish landscape that means so much to him, filled with charming, funny, wise, and insightful insights into the world through Of their eyes.

Heughan has previously said that he went on the journey to challenge himself, explaining, “Waypoints is a memory with a difference! I wanted to tell the stories and share the experiences that have shaped me, but to do so I needed to challenge myself and spend time in my own company, away from the distractions of everyday life.

“And for me there is no better place to reflect than the wild Scottish Highlands.”

Sam Heughan: Outlander’s Jamie Fraser actor Sam Heughan enjoys a meal at Tom Kit…

Last week, Outlander actors Heughan and Graham McTavish, who plays Dougal MacKenzie on the hit series, enjoyed a bite to eat at celebrity chef Tom Kitchin’s Edinburgh restaurant.

The couple appeared at The Kitchin in Leith to film their hit TV series Men In Kilts.

Sharing photos of Heughan and McTavish eating their food, the chef wrote: “Thought I’d share some behind the scenes photos from when we had these great guys @samheughan and @grahammctavish here at The Kitchin filming ‘Men in Kilts’ @meninkiltsstarz #Starz .

“It’s so much fun to film and my gosh what a popular show… I love chatting with so many of our American guests who have seen the show and sought us out for it.

“Just wonderful to see tourists and visitors in Edinburgh again supporting the amazing hospitality businesses in Scotland. We have missed you all.”

Heughan will no doubt be delighted to be back in Edinburgh, a city he holds dear.

In fact, last month in an interview with Square Mile, a London men’s luxury lifestyle magazine, Heughan was asked if he could think of a moment or experience that influenced who he is as a person today.

He replied: “I guess when I moved to Edinburgh.

“I lived in the country when I was a child, there were four people in my class at school. And then I moved to Edinburgh, which felt like a metropolis to me. I started going to the theater.

“Being in the city was really inspiring. It opened the world to me when I was a teenager. There’s a whole world out there that I want to explore.”
