Rebel Wilson and Riverdale’s Charles Melton team up to star in new K-pop movie: Lost in America
Rebel Wilson and Riverdale’s Charles Melton have signed on to co-star in a new comedy about an up-and-coming K-pop group stranded in Texas.
No details have yet emerged about the roles the popular artists will play in the film, which is called K-pop: Lost in America, Deadline reports.
The story centers on the band’s desperate attempt to get to New York’s Madison Square Garden in time to hit the stage for their US debut.

Unfortunately, the group only has days to cover the 1,600-mile trip from Waco, Texas to Manhattan.
And they have to after losing their phones, money and transportation.
According to the official synopsis, a clash of cultures ensues as visitors “learn to love Texas, and Texas learns to love them back.”
K-pop, the name given to the music and popular culture products of South Korea, has become a worldwide phenomenon.

Boy band BTS is arguably K-pop’s biggest success story, selling 32.7 million albums in South Korea alone and selling out stadiums around the world.
The news comes after Rebel’s most recent Netflix movie, Senior Year, received a mixed response from fans and critics.
In the comedy, which debuted on the streaming giant in May, the popular 42-year-old actor played a middle-aged woman returning to high school.

Meanwhile, the producers of Riverdale, a dark take on the classic Archie Comics, announced last month that the show will come to an end after filming wraps later this year.
Charles, 31, a Korean-American, plays Reggie on the hit series.
The seventh and final season will premiere in 2023.
K-pop: Lost in America will be filmed in late 2022 and will be directed by South Korean filmmaker JK Youn.
