RANGERS are delighted to announce today a new strategic and commercial partnership with the All India Football Federation – the governing body of Indian football.
A member of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation, the AIFF oversees all football in India, including the Indian national team, Indian Super League, I-League and Super Cup, and manages the women’s and youth national teams.
Building on the club’s existing partnership with leading Indian Super League club Bengaluru FC, this new and exciting partnership with AIFF will see Rangers continue to expand their presence and commercial ventures in India.
Rangers will offer a wide range of programs to support thousands of Indian coaches, covering areas such as talent identification, scouting and analysis. A group of AIFF coaches and members will travel to Glasgow and see the Rangers’ training and facilities firsthand.
James Bisgrove, Commercial and Marketing Director at Rangerscommented: “The partnership with the AIFF will add a new focus to our operations in India, which is a key pillar of the club’s international strategy, alongside our strong collaboration with Bengaluru FC.
“Indian football continues to grow rapidly and we are excited about the potential commercial opportunities that this presents.
“The first Rangers Supporters’ Club was recently established in India and as pandemic restrictions lift, we look forward to expanding Rangers’ presence in the market.
“We are incredibly excited and proud that Rangers, along with our partners in the region, can play a role in the continued growth and development of Indian football.”
Savio Medeira, Technical Director and Head of Coach Education, AIFFsaid: “I am honored that Rangers FC has signed an agreement with us. We are trying in our own way to be self-sustaining in various technical programs. Working with this historic club will add tremendous value to our coach education program.” Scouting processes, talent identification and analysis among others, all in our quest to move forward together.
“The exchange of coach education programs will benefit Indian football immensely as our coaches will be able to learn and interact with the best in the world.”
Gary Gibson, Head of Football Academies and International Relations at Rangerscontinued, “We are very excited about this new partnership with the AIFF as the club continues to advance our international strategy.
“Football is growing rapidly in India and this partnership will provide a number of opportunities for both Rangers and the AIFF as we seek to support coaches and members.
“We will work closely together to support coach education and we look forward to welcoming representatives from the AIFF to Glasgow later this year.”
Mandar Tamhane, CEO Bengaluru FCadded: “The partnership with Rangers was formed with the aim of helping Indian football and not just Bengaluru FC.
“It is with great satisfaction that we see this strategic and commercial association with the AIFF taking shape.
“We know what Rangers are bringing to the table and I’m sure the AIFF and coaches in India will benefit greatly from that.”
