Rangers confirm departure of Girls Academy

RANGERS are today able to confirm the departure of a number of Girls’ Academy players who will now continue their football journey elsewhere.

Eilidh Martin, Hannah Cunningham, Carla Todd, Abbie McKay, Hannah Jordan, Abby Boylan, Leah Daly, Hannah Robinson, Jasmine McPhie, Elli Reid, Ellie Vernal and Rosie Slater are all moving on, with Rangers embracing any players leaving support program of the academy.

Kevin Murphy, Assistant Coach and Academy Manager for Women and Girls, commented: “It’s always difficult to say goodbye to players who have represented the club so well over many years. Most of these girls have been part of our academy for around five to nine years and have done so at the highest level.

“They have achieved success along their journey but the most important thing is that they have had a positive experience with us which will set them up well for their next journey in football. Many of them have already tried senior football, some of them have been on loan and have taken up this challenge.

“I have no doubt that all these young players will move on and have a great future in football and it is an exciting next step for them as they begin the next chapter in their lives. Many go to university and college or work full-time, but their love of football is such that they want to combine the two and I know they will do well.

“The club have already been proactive in helping players find their next destination and many have already trained with clubs to further support this transition. The club will continue to offer support to all these players should they require it.

“I want to say thank you to all the players and their parents and carers. The dedication and commitment over all these years does not go unnoticed or unnoticed.

“I cannot thank them all enough for what they have accomplished over the years and I am sure that will stand them in good stead as they take their next step in football.”
