Premier League betting: Previous 5/1 Callum Wilson on open goal v Nottingham Forest | football news

Our tipster Jones Knows started the season with a bang when he carded Ben White at 6/1 – what does he back on Saturday?

1 point to Callum Wilson scores first for Newcastle v Nottingham Forest (5/1 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)

Those who have taken a look at my pre-post season preview will know that I am fully committed to Callum Wilson scoring goals for Newcastle this season. I’m counting on him to win the Golden Boot on 33/1 and get into England’s World Cup squad on 6/1 so it’s no surprise to read that I’m playing him to score a goal this weekend achieve.

Wilson has a history of scoring early in a campaign. In the last nine seasons that he has been fit enough to start a season (eight of nine), Wilson has averaged five goals in the first eight games this season.

Overall, in the first eight matchdays of a season, the average goals per 90 minutes is 0.6. Compared to a 0.3 average in games throughout the rest of the season. His body seems to be at its peak after pre-season.

Wilson certainly speaks of a good game. He said: “This season I’m feeling strong, I’m feeling fit, I’m feeling resilient. Now it’s up to me to prove these doubters wrong. That’s what I live from.”

Everything points to him and Newcastle starting with a bang. He’ll take my money this weekend in the first goalscorer market at 5/1 – the first of many we hope.

1 point to Kyle Walker-Peters for having two or more shots against Tottenham (5/1 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!)

It’s becoming increasingly difficult to find value in “player prop” markets like shots this season, as the five-swap rule is likely to affect playtime for specific players without adjusting the prices offered.

This, on top of an already existing tightening of prices by bookmakers in these particular markets, will make it harder for lovers of such quirky betting opportunities. That said, there are still angles to exploit and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters is a man to certainly get his shot prizes with. The ever-improving defender was averaging 0.8 shots per 90 minutes last season, when Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl gave his full-backs ample license to join attacks, sometimes in very central positions.

A move to a back three this season could mean the wide players put even more emphasis on the tone for attacking and Walker-Peters undoubtedly has the ability to make the difference in the last third. Southampton won’t be sitting back in North London so I’m very happy to invest in Walker-Peters against his former club to get at least two shots on target at a starting price of 5/1 with Sky Bet.

I guessed this weekend…

1 point on Ben White is carded vs Crystal Palace (6/1 with Sky Bet – Bet Here!) – WINNER!

So let’s go again. The slate is wiped clean and my desire to bring down these bookies burns brighter than ever.

It makes perfect sense to take seriously the 6/1 on Ben White picking up a card on Friday night.

We’re seeing a classic case of a position change that hasn’t been factored into the market yet, as White, usually a centre-back, will substitute for Takehiro Tomiyasu at full-back, while William Saliba Gabriel at heart supports Arsenal’s defence. White is therefore ready for a showdown with card-drawing king Wilfried Zaha at the end of the channel.

No player drew more yellow cards last season than Zaha (14). If you stretch the data to the last five years, the Palace forward was responsible for winning 87 yellow cards for fouls on him – next on this list is Richarlison with 78.

0.5 points on white is carded, Wilson scores the first hit and Walker-Peters has two or more shots (225/1 with a Sky Bet – Bet Here!)

A dream you dream alone is just a dream. A dream you dream together is a reality.
