What do critics think of ‘Top Gun: Maverick’?
It seems that both the public and the critics are fawning over the sequel to “Top Gun”. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics gave it a 97% score, while audiences gave it a 99% rating.
Many viewers had nothing but positive things to say about “Top Gun: Maverick” and believe that it lives up to the original.
“The original ‘Top Gun’ was cinematic perfection, and ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ does the original a tremendous honor. The CGI is well done, there is a lot of live action flying, and there are a variety of planes that are exciting to watch,” Drew wrote. “This film benefits a lot in theaters, especially because of the sound of the planes. If I had to be picky, I wasn’t a huge fan of who they chose for Penny. The chemistry was good and I never felt the emotion of the actress the way I did with Charlie in the original. Still, most of the acting choices were fantastic, especially Miles Teller, who plays Goose’s son Rooster. There were also no truly terrible actors, so that helped me keep the full 5 stars for myself.”
A viewer named PA wrote: “Absolutely nailed it. The twist and turns really took us for a ride, it was great to hear the applause from a theater. Fantastic performance from Miles Teller and Monica Barbaro in helping us cross the finish line.”
Vickie loved the movie, but apparently not all the swearing. “I loved that she brought back all the characters, music, history and American strength that we love,” she wrote Vickie. “The only drawback was taking the Lord’s name in vain and the F-word. It cheapens the brilliance of the movie.”
Toon N wrote, “It’s a great sequel. It gives very good humor and experience. There is a scene that reminds me of the first part. The sound elements and effects fit the movie perfectly. There are more and more exciting scenes at the end of the movie. Good actors. But in terms of photography, it’s good enough, but there should be some beautiful stunt scenes.”
“In a way, it’s superior to the original film”
Dominic called it the “best sequel of all time. From start to finish I had smiles and tears at how wonderful it was done. The wait was long for part 2 and surprisingly it was worth it!! See it also on Dbox.
“Top Gun Maverick is an absolute MASTERPIECE of a sequel to a great movie from 30 years ago. Not only does it pay homage to the original Top Gun, it goes way beyond that,” wrote Ben R. “Throughout the entire movie I was going through a lot of emotions, but most of the time I had the biggest smile on my face. face. It felt like the first time as a kid going to the movies for the first time. All the excitement and wonder was revived as I watched this wonderfully staged film.”
“The humorous, emotional, fast-paced action bits that had me on the edge of my seat kept me hooked from start to finish. Once the credits rolled I just couldn’t believe my eyes and it left me wanting more,” Ben continued. “All I wanted was to see her again and again. I’m so thankful to Tom Cruise, Joseph Kosinski, Jerry Bruckheimer and the entire cast and crew that we can still get this kind of real cinema in 2022 where most of the big blockbusters are made mostly by CGI. Hats off to them for going out of their way to give us a ride.”
A user named Google wrote: “Although the flight scenes would probably cause the plane shown to disintegrate, the action and fast pace of the film make for a very satisfying experience. In a way, it’s superior to the original film.”
Conner R wrote: “If you like airplanes, boy, this movie is for you. The last 45 minutes are the best dogfights in any movie and the fact that they practically shot a lot of it makes it even more awesome. My only qualm is that “I feel the need! The need for speed!” didn’t quite make it with all the other callbacks this movie had.”
As fans head to theaters this Memorial Day, it looks like “Top Gun: Maverick” is a great movie that everyone will enjoy!
