Lautaro Martinez is among the players being considered by Chelsea ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. According to a recent report by The Athletic, the Blues are interested in signing the Argentina international as they aim to make big changes to their squad in the coming months.
Martinez was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League last summer, with Arsenal and Tottenham reportedly interested, but the 24-year-old extended his contract until 2026 at Inter Milan. That will definitely have protected the Argentine’s value at the San Siro but he could still secure an exit this summer.
Chelsea have been linked with a host of attacking players as Thomas Tuchel looks to close the gap on Manchester City and Liverpool next season. football.london understands Christopher Nkunku is a target outside the window but there are a number of clubs interested in the RB Leipzig and France attacker.

Ousmane Dembele is also a target for the Blues but, like his fellow Frenchman Nkunku, there are a multitude of prospects. Dembele is set to become a free agent at the end of next month as his contract at Barcelona expires.
So Martinez, who scored 25 goals in all competitions for Inter in the 2021/22 season, could be a viable option for Chelsea in the transfer market. However, the Argentina international’s agent recently said his client is more than happy with Inter at the moment.
Alejandro Camaño said of Mundo Deportivo: “Today we just want to be champions at Inter and then God will say. He feels good, he’s fine. But we don’t interfere with what the clubs want.” We know what Lautaro wants to do, which is to win the championship with Inter and have a good World Cup. That’s the only thing Lauti has in mind, God will say the rest.”
He then added: “Lauti will bring us a lot of joy for years to come, wherever he goes, he will be an entertainer. He will succeed wherever he is, he will certainly do well. Hopefully he plays in a great team and can compete in competitions like the Champions League.”
Martinez is a fabulous player and has shown that regularly for Inter Milan in recent seasons. Additionally, he formed an incredible partnership with Romelu Lukaku during his time at San Siro. In 78 games in which the two have shared the pitch in all competitions, 19 goals have been scored by one assisting the other. Lukaku scored 10 goals with assist from Martinez, while the latter scored nine goals in the opposite scenario.
“I miss Lautaro Martinez,” Lukaku told Sky Italia towards the end of 2021. “I could die on the pitch for him from the first day I met him.”
The Belgian then joked: “Lautaro Martinez will come to Chelsea with me in the future? No, Lautaro, you can stay in Milan. I will be there again.”
