JLL launches multi-family property management group, Canvas appoints chief operating officer, Avison Young hires data center veteran

JLL has added multifamily to its list of property management services and has chosen a 30 year industry veteran in his office in Chicago to lead the charge.

JLL previously offered property management services only for office, industrial, retail and life sciences spaces. Its new multi-family property management platform will feature asset management, residential scheduling, technology services and on-site management teams.

The expansion would also allow JLL to fully serve owners of mixed-use properties across the country. JLL currently employs 2,300 property management professionals who oversee more than 745 million square feet of retail space in the United States.

Prior to that, Cirjakovic managed Midwest operations for Chicago-based multifamily property management company Camco as regional manager and member of its senior executive committee. He previously worked at Midland Property Management and the Illinois Housing Development Authority.

Brett Klein

The real estate investment platform Canvas Investment Partners and Canvas Property Group have appointed Brett Klein as director of operations for the multi-family and mixed-use property company.

In his new role, Klein will develop, implement and execute the corporate strategy to scale the multi-company platform focusing on Class A multi-family transactions in the New York metropolitan area. He is also tasked with guiding the company’s expansion into select US markets.

The news follows Canvas’s announcement in July of a strategic partnership with HRS Management, the family office of Apollo Global Management co-founder Josh Harris, to invest more than $1 billion in multifamily properties.

Klein brings more than 22 years of experience in C-suite roles at various real estate companies with a combined $16 billion in assets under management. Most recently, as CFO of EquityMultiple, Klein spent more than 13 years at NorthStar Asset Management Group, where he served as director of alternative products and raised more than $4.5 billion in equity capital. He has also served on the investment committees of seven privately held public companies.
