Football legend Ian Wright launches M&S Food’s Eat Well Competition

Football has never been more exciting in the UK – from the Lionesses’ stunning weekend win to the English and Welsh men’s teams preparing for the ultimate winter tournament.

As part of M&S Food’s Eat Well Play Well partnership with home country football associations, the retailer is launching a new campaign to promote a groundbreaking Sparks competition starting this week.

Customers can win a coaching master class for their local school or football club featuring their football heroes from England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

To enter, customers simply need to open Sparks in the M&S app, register for the competition by nominating their favorite local school or football club and scan their Sparks card each time they purchase an M&S Eat Well product . The more Eat Well products are purchased, the more take part in the raffle.

Winners can choose which football heroes they want to train with, whether it’s a men’s or women’s team from England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

The Eat Well flower is M&S’s health label, found on nearly 2,000 products in stores, helping customers identify healthier choices. Eat Well criteria were developed by the nutrition team at M&S with input from the British Nutrition Foundation.

The competition runs until September 27th in all branches. In addition to the Training Masters Class, there are hundreds of other prizes up for grabs including tickets, jerseys, gear, autographed merchandise and Eat Well products.

Sharry Cramond, Marketing Director at M&S Food, said: “Giving our customers and their local community the chance to win this unique award is fantastic. As well as being able to train with football heroes, even our European champions, there are plenty of prizes up for grabs – including autographed merchandise, gear vouchers and some of our very own M&S Eat Well products. All you have to do is register, follow the Eat Well flower in store and scan your Sparks! Over 15 million of our customers are already Sparks members and because good things happen with every purchase, we want more to join in and get the most out of M&S.

“Our Eat Well Play Well campaign is all about showing that healthier choices don’t have to be boring – our Eat Well products are delicious, fresh and great value. We want to inspire families and children across the UK to get involved this summer and beyond – who better to motivate us all than football legend Ian Wright.”

M&S Food has partnered with England, Scotland, Cymru and Northern Ireland national football teams on Eat Well Play Well to harness the power of football and the influence of some of Britain’s greatest football heroes to help families make healthier choices.

English legend, father and grandfather Ian Wright stars in a new ad to launch the campaign to raise awareness of the competition and M&S’s Eat Well Play Well partnership.

He added: “M&S Food have outdone themselves with this competition – what an opportunity for young footballers to train with their heroes! It’s an experience that real money can’t buy. Participation is easy, because for every Eat Well product you buy, you enter the competition. The healthier you eat, the greater your chance of winning! You’ll also have a chance to win many other great prizes including great tasting Eat Well products across a wide range of items.”

The commercial will be broadcast on ITV on August 4th and will be available on VOD, YouTube and social media throughout August and September. Customers will also see the campaign via email, OOH, in store, on the Sparks app, on the M&S website and on social media – featuring M&S ambassadors like Tom Daley.
