‘Flying to London’ – Alessandro Bastoni sends Tottenham supporters on £51m transfer frenzy

Tottenham fans have received an important tip amid the potential transfer of Alessandro Bastoni. The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer, with Antonio Conte keen to bolster his side and secure Spurs’ place in the Champions League.

And Fabio Paratici wants to strengthen Spurs’ defense as his first priority in the upcoming transfer window. Conte and Paratici met in Turin on Friday morning to discuss the club’s transfer strategy for the summer and it’s understood much of the conversation turned to the squad’s defensive side.

Bastoni, who has emerged as one of several targets for the north London team to keep an eye on, has impressed again at Inter this season after winning Serie A with Conte before the latter’s departure. There are indications that the Italy international is interested in a Spurs boss reunion but the biggest hurdle seems to be luring him away from the San Siro.

However, Bastoni’s latest Instagram activity suggests otherwise. As pictured below, the defender captioned his Instagram story “Flying to London”.

football.london understand Inter will not accept less than £51m for the middle half. Bastoni would be a statement from Tottenham looking to enter a new and prosperous era under Conte. Of course, Italy play Argentina at Wembley on Wednesday night and Bastoni has been included in Roberto Mancini’s squad, which most likely explains the defender’s flight to London.

However, if Bastoni eventually moves to Tottenham, it most likely won’t be Spurs’ only signing this summer. Eager to cement a fruitful future in competition, The Telegraph claims Conte would like up to six arrivals in this window; a centre-back, a right-back, two midfielders, a forward and a reserve goalkeeper.

The Spurs boss told Sky Sport Italia in February: “Four players left in January. Four important players for Tottenham, two have been added. So even numerically instead of strengthening you could be weakened on paper.”

In April, however, the Italy coach seemed to take things back a bit, emphasizing the impact of two new signings, Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski. Conte said: “I said that with these two players, although we lost four players in January, with these two signings we have made this squad more complete and balanced.

“I think in football it’s very important to have a clear idea and to have a good vision. Because the situation is easier that way.”
