Everton striker Richarlison wasted no time poking fun at Liverpool after losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League final on Saturday night. The Reds dominated the game for much of the game but failed to capitalize on their advantage in the first half and were eventually wiped out by Vinicius Junior’s decisive goal just after half-time in Paris.
Liverpool’s players were understandably devastated after the full-time whistle at the Stade de France, but Richarlison showed no mercy as he posted a model of him behind the wheel of a bus to his Twitter Account immediately after the game. The photo appeared to relate to a pre-match rumor on social media that claimed a group of Everton fans had set up a fake travel company to trick Liverpool fans into booking a bus, which never showed up to take her to Paris earlier this week.
Richarlison’s post was well received by many Evertonians but sparked angry reactions from some Liverpool supporters, who were still reeling from the result at the end of the game in the French capital. The Reds huffed and puffed over the course of the 90 minutes but, despite their best efforts, ultimately went away empty-handed while Real Madrid held on to claim an unprecedented 14th continental triumph at their expense.
The Paris result saw Liverpool miss out on a seventh Champions League title just days after they were denied Premier League honors, with Manchester City sealing this year’s trophy with a final-day comeback win over Aston Villa last week would have. However, Jurgen Klopp’s side managed to end the season with two trophies after winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier this season.

Real Madrid had Thibaut Courtois to thank for his impressive display at the end of the game in Paris, with the former Chelsea goalkeeper putting in an outstanding performance to keep Liverpool in check from the first whistle to the last. However, Reds legend Steven Gerrard was quick to insist his former club will hit back with a vengeance at the next available opportunity as he took over Jurgen Klopp’s side in his pundit role BT sport.
“It’s a head scratcher,” said Gerrard. “I don’t think Liverpool did too much wrong, okay, they weren’t clinical and ruthless to take those chances, but a goalkeeper became man of the match in a final against them.

“Make no mistake, they will fight back. You have these experiences to learn from. This game is either the best night of your life or one of the worst. You’ll dust yourself off and give it your all again next year.
“Real Madrid showed a master class in defence, their defense all over the pitch was great. In the 90 minutes they blocked, defended one on one and defended very well positionally.”
