DeAndre Moore is committed to Louisville football

Louisville football’s 2023 recruiting class received a major addition today with the signing of DeAndre Moore. Louisville is getting a four-star wide receiver from California who is considered one of the best players in the country. Moore is ranked the 11th best wide receiver in the country and 62nd overall in the On3 Sports Consensus rankings, which weight the four major recruiting services equally. He has bids from almost every major program in the country, but USC, Texas and Oregon were his other finalists.

UofL has been on the right track with this recruit class so far, but Moore is a neck ahead of the other players who have signed. He is ranked the third-highest player to sign with Louisville if he signs on the dotted line. His offer list alone makes him one of the biggest recruits in the program’s history, and he confirms that on the field.

Moore is 6-0/185 with exceptional distance running ability. He has a great ability to create separation with speed, footwork and quickness. He has great speed to get behind defenses and he can run away from defenses once he has the ball in his hands. It’s also noticeable in his highlights and social media videos that he can make contested catches.

USC reportedly wanted Moore as safety at one point, and it’s obvious why that’s the case when you watch him defend. What it also shows is that Moore is a truly aggressive athlete as opposed to a finesse player. I’ve spent a lot of time watching his clips from camps and 7on7s this spring and he’s extremely competitive. Not just when it comes to trash talking. You can see he approaches every matchup as a challenge and he works to be the better player.

Louisville has had trouble recruiting high school wide receivers in recent years. They graduated from spring training this year, with Ahmari Huggins-Bruce being the only high school recruit this staff hired. Moore will no doubt change the talent level for the wide receiver room, but he could also help change the recruiting trend.

UofL expects around twenty official visitors in the city on June 17th. That group includes Moore as well as Rueben Owens, the highest-rated running back in the country. Madden Sanker, Luke Burgess, Jaybron Harvey and Javin Simpkins will be among the non-binding recruits Louisville is in good shape with. It’s highly likely that staff will receive multiple acceptances from highly rated prospects this weekend.
