Chelsea news: Man City plot rocks £76m transfer as Thomas Tuchel risks losing ‘the next John Terry’

Your Chelsea morning recap on Saturday 28th May.

Loftus-Cheek’s agent rules out a move

Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s agent Jonathan Benett has addressed rumors linking his client to a move from Chelsea this summer. Earlier this month, Corriere dello Sport reported that Lazio are finalizing a deal to sign the Cobham graduate at the end of the season.

The 26-year-old has often displayed brilliant flashes in a Chelsea shirt but he has never quite reached the heights he once had under Maurizio Sarri in 2019. His impressive performances have piqued Lazio’s interest – so much so that the former Blues boss has made the England international his top priority this summer and starman Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is expected to leave.

“He and Sarri have an excellent relationship but there’s nothing at the moment,” Barnett told Italian newspaper Tuttosport via InsideFutbol, while addressing claims Loftus-Cheek would love to join Lazio. “Although the club is in a transformation phase [owing to a change in ownership]Chelsea are still a top club.”

Man City see Reece James transfer

Manchester City are reportedly expecting a shock move for Chelsea youngster Reece James. It comes amid plans to hold talks over a brand new contract at the club.

The England international has had an impressive season, making 25 appearances with five goals and nine assists in the Premier League. And all this despite the fact that he also suffered a few serious injuries during the season.

The Daily Mail claim Pep Guardiola is considering a move for the Cobham Academy graduate, who is currently valued at around £76million by the CIES Football Observatory. The report states that the Spaniard sees James as the perfect replacement for Kyle Walker at the club.

Arsenal target ‘next John Terry’

Todd Boehly has been tipped to make a decision in the summer transfer window amid growing interest in Chelsea defender Levi Colwill. The 19-year-old centre-back has attracted interest from a host of top-flight sides this season after producing impressive performances on loan.

It has been reported by Goal that Arsenal are interested in acquiring Colwill’s signature this summer and Leicester City are also keeping a close eye on the situation. The report adds that Chelsea are reluctant to loan the youngster back on loan as Tuchel is currently out of options.
