Despite being third in his team’s best #UCLfantasy points this season, Sadio Mane tops the predicted list for Liverpool players as the algorithm focuses on current form and takes into account performances in other competitions. Mané could be Liverpool’s top scorer in 2022, however Mohammed Salah remains an attractive option despite not having scored in the UEFA Champions League since the round of 16 first leg. The Egyptian has scored 31 goals in all competitions this season and scored against Madrid last season.

Despite missing four of Liverpool’s 12 UEFA Champions League games in 2021/22, Trent Alexander Arnold still has 48 fantasy points at an average of six per game. With the ability to make crucial contributions at both ends of the pitch, the full-back will be one of the first names on Jurgen Klopp’s squad list and #UCLfantasy managers on Matchday 13.

Alexander-Arnold’s co-defender Virgil van Dijk is equally attractive, amassing 34 fantasy points in the knockout stages alone, with his 55 ball recoveries the most among Liverpool’s defenses in the competition.

Luis Diaz has shone for Liverpool since arriving in January and is no stranger to great performances in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League, having already won three Player of the Match awards. The algorithm gives him a good chance to add to the five attacking returns he’s already scored for Porto and Liverpool combined.

REAL MADRID

player position Price Projected Points
Karim Benzema Forward €10.8m 8.9
Vinicius Júnior Forward €9.2m 7.0
Lukas Modric midfield player €8.6m 6.5
Thibaut Courtois goalkeeper €6.7 million 5.6
Rodrygo Forward €8.1m 5.1

That’s no surprise Karim Benzema beating Real Madrid forecasts, the Frenchman’s knockout numbers make him a must-have asset for #UCLfantasy managers. His expected number of points suggests that as a strike partner he has every chance of adding to his 15 UEFA Champions League goals this season Vinicius Júnior also attracts a lot of attention and is currently represented in 29% of teams. Despite scoring just three goals in Europe this season, no player left has more assists than his six and his pace on the break could play a key role.

Big occasions call for experienced minds and there are few better equipped than the four-time UEFA Champions League winner Lukas Modric. The Croatian star’s performances in both quarter-finals with Chelsea were particularly memorable and he now meets another Premier League opponent he knows well. Modrić has recorded two goals and three assists against Liverpool over the course of his career.

It’s rare for a goalkeeper to be among the best predicted players on a team, though Thibaut Courtois played an important role in Madrid’s road to the final, making 52 saves in total at an average of over four per game and saving four goals and one penalty on Matchday 7 at Paris Saint-Germain.

although Rodrygo did not start Real Madrid’s last UEFA Champions League game, the 21-year-old made a notable contribution with two stoppage-time goals and started all four league games following that win over Manchester City. With just a 4% share, the Brazilian could be a golden differentiator for #UCLfantasy managers having already scored five times in Europe this season.
