What is ‘Blasted’ about?
Based on the real-life UFO-induced phenomenon in Hessdalen, Norway, ‘Blasted’ is a Norwegian sci-fi dark comedy film that tells the story of two close childhood friends, Sebastian (Axel Boyum) and Mikkel ( Fredrik Skogsrud). These two childhood friends reunite for the bachelorette party for Sebastian, who is marrying the love of her life in the film.
While Mikkel never progressed beyond being a teenage laser tag prodigy, Sebastian has now become a career-obsessed workaholic. Even at his bachelorette party, Sebastian is using the occasion as a ruse to win another new client. But soon, the party’s light-hearted atmosphere turns into a tense one when the party is interrupted by an alien invasion that scares everyone. Now it’s up to the unbeatable laser-tag duo Mikkel and Sebastian to come together and fight him.
The official synopsis reads: “Blasted follows childhood friends Sebastian (Axel Bøyum) and Mikkel (Fredrik Skogsrud), who reunite for Sebastian’s bachelor party. While Mikkel never grew from a teenage laser tag prodigy, Sebastian became a career-obsessed workaholic who uses the party to chat up a potential client. But when the bachelor party runs headlong into an alien invasion, it’s up to Mikkel and Sebastian to come together as the laser-gun duo they once were and strike back.”
The film has been inspired by the real life UFO phenomenon of the unexplained lights of Hessdalen which had been seen over a 12 km long stretch of the Hessdalen Valley in rural Norway. These lights have no official source as they keep appearing both day and night and also seem to float above the valley.

Axel Boyum as Sebastian
27-year-old Norwegian star Axel Boyum got his big break on TV with the Emmy-winning Norwegian TV series ‘Eye Witness’. Since then he has also given some of the best performances in Norwegian shows such as ‘Black-Widows’, ‘Home Ground’, ‘Witch Hunt’, ‘Delete Me’, ‘Fury’ and ‘The Headhunters’. He is one of the youngest actors to win a ‘Gullruten’ Norwegian Emmy Award for his performance in the TV series ‘Home Ground’. He has also acted in several Norwegian short films such as ‘Camping With Ada’, ‘Comets’, ‘Satellites’ and ‘Another World’. He will be seen playing the lead role of Sebastian in the long-awaited Norwegian sci-fi black comedy drama ‘Blasted’, which premieres globally on Netflix.
