With teams under 19, under 16 and under 13, the school’s football academy is an elite football development program for boys run by Jamie Fullarton, a former Premier League footballer and qualified UEFA Pro License coach.

As well as benefiting from an internationally renowned coach, the academy makes use of the excellent facilities at Ackworth School, including five full size athletic fields, an all-weather pitch and an indoor training area.

The academy’s home stadium is a state-of-the-art 3G pitch nearby.

During the anniversary weekend, the school will be running football trials for enthusiastic players who wish to join one of the three teams in September 2022 and secure one of the 100% scholarships available.

The day includes the opportunity to learn from the best in a training session personally led by Jamie Fullarton, followed by a competitive game. Participation is free of charge and lunch will be provided for participants.

As places are limited, don’t miss out on this rare opportunity.

Ackworth School is looking for young, talented players

With close proximity to major clubs such as Manchester United, Liverpool and Everton, academy players study for their GCSEs or A Levels while also attending at least 20 hours of training per week.

Education here is not limited to just playing, however, as those involved in the academy benefit from exploring alternative careers in the football industry, including journalism, analysis and coaching.

“Ackworth’s Football Academy program allows students to train for a role in football while receiving a world-class education. It is ideal for students interested in a future in the football industry.” Jamie Fullarton, Principal of the Football Academy.

Ackworth School is Britain’s oldest co-educational independent day and boarding school for pupils aged 2 to 18.

Develop a football career alongside a world-class, independent education.

As a dynamic and forward-thinking school, they strive to develop resilient individuals who not only think creatively but also act ethically and responsibly.

They encourage students to express themselves confidently and to embody the Quaker value of speaking to others respectfully, but also in a way that is true to themselves and their beliefs.

The school is situated in a beautiful rural setting in Yorkshire and offers a wide range of education from preschool to sixth form for day and boarding students.

The school is pleased to offer a range of scholarships and grants to ensure that an Ackworth education is accessible to all, whatever their background.

Scholarships recognize the exceptional talents of young people and are awarded on the basis of merit, however scholarships are available up to a 100% value.

Such grants are means-tested. Students who are successfully offered a place in the football academy must also meet the academic standards of the school.
