There is something so moving about seeing someone achieve their dreams, especially when it comes to a great song and dance number at just the right time.

Sure, when you look Burlesque you need to suspend your disbelief that someone with a voice like Christina Aguilera could go unnoticed for 20-something years, no matter how small town she comes from. But when does it finally hit that opening note? Chills, always!

Movies about singers have been huge in recent years. CODA won Best Picture at this year’s Academy Awards, and with a bunch of biopics, like rocketman Y ARETHAWe have had many options to choose from.

Fortunately, a new movie about an aspiring singer is coming out soon, and we can’t wait to see it.

Falling in love with Figaro stars Australian actress Danielle Macdonald, who you might remember from 2017 patti$ cakeas well as the ONLY Joanna Lumley, aka Ab Fab’s Patty Stone.

The film is a romantic comedy centering on Millie (Macdonald), a brilliant young fund manager who quits her unsatisfying job – and her long-time boyfriend – to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming an opera singer in the Lands. Highlands of Scotland.

Lumley plays Meghan Geoffrey-Bishop, a fearsome voice teacher who believes that only with a broken heart can you truly learn to sing. As she prepares her two students, Max and Millie, for the same competition, Meghan manipulates her love lives to get the best out of them.

To celebrate the launch of Falling in love with FigaroWe’ve compiled a list of six other movies that are all about singers trying to achieve their dreams.

For the record, Crossing is a CLEAR omission from this list, because it’s not available to stream or download anywhere in Australia. Thank goodness this writer owns it on DVD, to be honest!
